If you're working out how to market peptides as a research-use-only brand, start with the bad news: most of the standard ecommerce playbook is closed to you. Google Ads, Meta, Stripe, Shopify Payments and the big email platforms all have policy lines that reach a peptide catalog, and the ones that don't name peptides still give a reviewer room to close you.
What's left works, but it's slower: search traffic to the pages buyers check, email on a platform that said yes in writing, wholesale accounts, and a store and labels that hold up to a close read. Here's the playbook we use.
Why paid channels are mostly closed to research peptide brands
None of this is rumor. It's in the policies, as of October 2026:
- Google Ads and Merchant Center. Google's unapproved substances policy bans promotion of products that have been subject to "any government or regulatory action or warning", "regardless of any claims of legality". Its example list doesn't name a peptide, but FDA has sent warning letters to several peptide sellers, and we'd expect that clause to catch most catalogs, Shopping listings included.
- Meta. Its written supplement policy doesn't name peptides. Online pharmacy and telehealth advertisers have to be LegitScript certified, though, and LegitScript doesn't certify research-use-only sellers. We wouldn't build a research brand on Meta ads.
- Stripe and Shopify Payments. Stripe's restricted businesses list prohibits "Incorrectly labeled research chemicals". Shopify Payments excludes products with health claims no regulator has verified, and its US terms pull in Stripe's list. Shopify's own AUP doesn't name peptides, but you'll need a third-party gateway.
- Email platforms. Klaviyo and Mailchimp restrict pharmaceutical products, and Omnisend names "drugs for research purposes" outright. We haven't found one that publicly says it accepts research peptides.
Some processors that advertise peptide accounts, Corepay and Easy Pay Direct among them, require LegitScript certification, and Corepay says it doesn't support research-use-only sellers. That's why payments get sorted before any marketing money is spent.
How to market peptides through the channels that stay open
This is where research peptide marketing has room to work, in the order we'd build it.
A store that passes underwriting
Your website is also your underwriting file, and an acquirer's reviewer reads it before most customers do. That means a COA linked from every product, a lot number per batch, honest research-use-only copy, a buyer-qualification step for trade accounts and nothing that reads as human use. We build that with our peptide website design service and connect it to acquirers through payment processing setup.
Search built on COA, batch and brand pages
Across the peptide stores we manage, brand searches (misspellings included) are most of the organic traffic. One German store gets roughly 14,000 clicks a quarter from its brand name and misspellings alone. Product pages on the stores we've audited sat at positions 40 to 90 for most product terms. So we'd skip "buy [peptide]" and build what buyers check: "[peptide] coa", "hplc tested peptides", batch pages and a brand page that owns your name. That's the core of our peptide SEO work. Expect 3 to 6 months before content ranks.
Email on a platform that confirmed your use case
Your list is the channel you own, as long as it sits on a platform whose terms fit your catalog. We get the use case confirmed in writing before migrating, then build welcome, checkout, new batch and win-back flows through peptide email marketing.
Wholesale and partner accounts
A wholesale application form, account pricing and a reorder email for each new batch often do more than a campaign. LegitScript's guide for processors notes that legitimate sellers often require a buyer to contact them first, so a trade account with a qualification step reads well to an underwriter too.
Labels that match the site
Product name, strength, lot number, storage and a research-use-only statement that's true for the product, matching the product page. Draft one in our free peptide label maker, then get print-ready files and mockups through label and packaging design.
Peptide advertising and content that gets brands shut down
FDA has rejected "research use only" disclaimers repeatedly when the rest of a site points to human use. Its August 24, 2026 letters to peptide sellers cited dosing guidance, reconstitution calculators, "peptide guides" and bacteriostatic water sold alongside, and they were based on website review alone. Whatever peptide advertising you do, keep these out of every channel:
- Dosing tables, protocols, reconstitution posts and calculators.
- Bacteriostatic water bundled or cross-sold with vials.
- Influencer or affiliate posts about effects, results or before-and-after photos.
- Reviews and testimonials describing what a product did for someone.
- A "Not for Human Consumption" line doing all the work. LegitScript lists it as a red flag for processors.
- Miscoded transactions, vague descriptors or a second "clean" store to get past an underwriter.
That last one is transaction laundering, and a termination for it can put you on Mastercard's MATCH list for 5 years. Run your own wording past a lawyer who knows FDA and FTC rules.
Peptide brand marketing without health claims
Peptide brand marketing for a research supplier comes down to things a buyer can check: one consistent name, verifiable lab reports, clear shipping terms and fast support. We built Tendabot, an AI support bot, and it's our own product, so weigh this accordingly. It answers order and shipping questions and gives dosing questions the same short refusal every time. See AI chatbot for peptide stores.
Where we fit, and where we don't
We work with research suppliers who want a clean, defensible business. For RUO stores the compliance piece is a review of every page, label and email, not LegitScript; certification is for pharmacies, telehealth and clinics, which our compliance and LegitScript service also covers. After launch, Care ($159/mo) or Care Pro ($319/mo, with a monthly compliance check of new pages) keeps the store maintained. We don't help anyone dress up human-use sales as research.
